MANILA – The passage of the Universal Health Care Law is an opportunity for the government to partner with the private sector and ultimately lower medical costs for Filipinos, a local drug maker said Monday.
A long-term sourcing arrangement can bring down the prices of medicine and medical devices at values sustainable for both the government and the pharmaceutical companies, said Joseph Gran, chief finance officer of Pascual Laboratories.
“The Universal Healthcare Law would allow us to provide access to Filipinos by lowering the out-of-pocket expenses and provide them access to these medical services and improve hopefully their well-being,” he told ANC’s “Market Edge.”
“The Filipinos’ thinking has always been curative and not preventive. Hopefully, with the improving economic status of the Filipino people and the growing awareness to preventive medication, we would see a lot of improvements in the healthcare for the Filipino,” he said. (ABS-CBN News)
