Chinese top Boracay foreign visitors in 1st quarter of 2019

BORACAY ISLAND – Chinese topped the list of foreign tourists who visited the world-famous island for this year’s first quarter, according to the Department of Tourism (DOT) in Malay, Aklan.

The DOT recorded a total of 107,164 Chinese tourist arrivals from Jan. to Feb. 2019.

Korean tourists came in second with 68,453 tourist arrivals.

They were followed by Americans tourists with 5,502 arrivals.

The total foreign tourist arrivals were also comprised of Russians with 3,499; Australians, 2,914; British, 2,724; Taiwanese, 1,940; Canadians, 1,899 and Germans with 1,795 arrivals.

According to DOT, the 340,309 total tourist arrivals for the first two months this year drops to last year’s 375,993 tourist arrivals in the same period.
