BACOLOD City – The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) opened media accreditation for the forthcoming May midterm elections.
The COMELEC Resolution No. 10507 sets the deadline of the accomplished form and other requirements for mass media accreditation on March 15.
Provincial Election Supervisor Salud Milagros Villanueva said the requirements should be submitted at the COMELEC Provincial Office not later than 5 PM.
Media practitioners must submit an endorsement letter from the newspaper, television, radio station, and internet news agency employing the applicant signed by the editor or the station manager, according to COMELEC.
COMELEC said freelancers need to secure a valid assignment letter from a bonafide media organization.
COMELEC said duly accredited media practitioner will be allowed a maximum access to all stages of the electoral process and shall not be used to undermine any of the protections mandated by Republic Act 10173 otherwise known as the Data Privacy Act of 2012. (With PIA/PN)
