MANILA – Negrense Raymar Jose and Capiznon Rey Mark Belo of Blackwater Elite are set to suit up in the Rookie/Sophomore versus Juniors showdown of the 2019 PBA All-Star Weekend set March 29 to 31 in Calasiao, Pangasinan.
Jose – who hails from Pontevedra, Negros Occidental – will be bannering the Rookie/Sophomore squad, which also has 2018 PBA Rookie Draft No. 1 pick Jaymar Perez of Columbian Dyip and 2018 PBA Rookie of the Year Jason Perkins of Phoenix Fuel Masters.
Other players in the Rookie/Sophomore team were Elite’s Abu Tratter and Paul Desiderio, Rain or Shine Elasto Painters’ Rey Nambatac and Javee Mocon, Alaska Aces’ Jeron Teng, NorthPort Batang Pier’s Robert Bolick, Meralco Bolts’ Trevis Jackson, NLEX Road Warriors’ Mark Tallo and Magnolia Hotshots’ Robbie Herndon.
Belo – who has roots in Roxas City – will spearhead the Juniors squad, which also has Dyip’s Rashawn McCarthy and Russel Escoto, TNT KaTropa’s Roger Pogoy and Hotshots’ Jio Jalalon.
Also in Juniors team were Elite’s Raphael Banal, Fuel Masters’ Matthew Wright, Aces’ Carl Bryan Cruz, Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings’ Kevin Ferrer, Bolts’ Mike Tolomia, Painters’ Ed Daquioag and San Miguel Beermen’s Von Pessumal.
Also as part of the 30th anniversary of the All-Star game becoming an official annual event of the league, four members of the original Rookies/Sophomores/Juniors team are going to see action in the North versus South game.
Four-time MVP Alvin Patrimonio joins forces with Jerry Codinera as they suit up for the South All-Stars, while Ronnie Magsanoc and two-time MVP Benjie Paras will take their acts playing for the North All-Stars./PN
