MANILA – Cignal-Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles got back to its winning ways in the 2019 PBA Developmental League after crushing AMA Online Education Titans, 111-81, on Thursday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
Ivorian import Angelo Kouame came back from one-game absence to finish with 22 points, 15 rebounds and four blocks for the Blue Eagles, which improved to 3-1 win-loss record.
Bryan Jayson Andrade waxed hot with 21 points, build on six three-point conversions, while Ilonggo Ferdinand “Thirdy” Ravena III and William Navarro had 14 markers each for the UAAP men’s basketball champions.
The Blue Eagles started off hot, going on a 9-0 start on three straight inside hits from Kouame before making it a 27-9 lead at the end of first period on shots from Ravena and Adrian Wong.
It became a wipeout for the Cignal-Ateneo since then as the Blue Eagles went on and extended the lead to as much as 33 in the second half on outside hits from Andrade, Tyler Tio and Joseph Matthew Nieto.
“We have to come out and do your best every game and today, we were much better,” said Blue Eagles head coach Tab Baldwin, who rued Blue Eagles’ 112-98 loss to University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers last week.
Joshua Munzon finished with 41 points, nine rebounds, and two assists, while Franky Johnson added 22 points and seven boards for the Titans, which suffered its third straight loss to fall to 1-3./PN
