BORACAY – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) is stepping up efforts to secure residents and tourists against petty crimes amid the peak season of the island.
The PRO-6’s Public Information Office will be tasked to come up with a comprehensive crime statistics before, during and after the re-opening of Boracay Island following reports of petty crimes against foreign tourists, said Regional director Brigadier General John Bulalacao.
“I am particularly concern sa pagtaas ng petty crimes involving foreign nationals sa Boracay,” added Bulalacao.
Street crimes including theft, pickpocketing and hotel break-ins are prevalent during holiday season where the foreign victims abound in the world-famous island.
“We want to maintain the peace and order in the area so that more tourists will visit and enjoy the beauty of Boracay,” the regional director said.
He noted comprehensive crime analysis will help police officers analyze and pinpoint the root of the crime.
He added five police assistance centers and mobile police units were established in Boracay’s three barangays, namely Yapak, Balabag and Manoc-Manoc.
The Metro Boracay Police Task Force also deployed personnel in outer and inner control borders to safeguard the island and neighboring towns. (With Akean Forum/PN)
