Bacolod City to hire 1,600 ‘summer jobbers’

BACOLOD City The Public Employment Services Office (PESO) will hire 1,630 youths under the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) in the city this summer.

“We have already distributed application forms in the city’s 61 barangays,” said PESO chief, Ma. Rebecca Balicas on Tuesday.

Around 1,500 hired applicants will be under the direct employment of the city government from April 15 to 26.

“The program is really intended to help in the expenses of students for the coming school year,” Balicas said.

Each student will receive P3,000 compensation for 15 days of work with P200 per day rate.

The remaining 130 will work under the Department of Labor and Employment from April 15 to May 8.

“The list of requirements is attached to the application form,” Balicas said “These include school records, certificate of indigency and identification photo.”

Balicas said Bacolod youths between 15 years and 30 years old are qualified to apply.

She added out-of-school youth who want to earn money for enrollment will also be accepted.

High school students are only allowed to participate in SPES during summer vacation while college and technical and vocational students who are 18 years to 24 years old can take advantage of the opportunity all year round. (With a report from PNA/PN)
