MANILA – De La Salle Dance Company emerged as the winningest crew after reclaiming the crown in the UAAP Season 81 street dance competition on Saturday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
DLS Dance Troupe became the winningest team in the competition after unseating last year’s champion Far Eastern University’s Street Alliance. National University Underdawgz ended as the second runner-up.
DLS Dance Troupe rocked the venue with its Queen-inspired routine, while FEU Street Alliance was on fire with its soldier theme to finish second and NU Underdawgz paid tribute to the late Freddie Mercury.
“Naging motivation namin (‘yung nangyari last year) para mas makahanap kami ng bagong gawin to get the championship back,” said DLSU Dance Company Street captain Diego Aviles.
“Naging inspiration namin ‘yung mga seniors na ga-graduate para mas lalo kaming makaisip ng bagong elemnts na di pa nagagawa, something fresh,” he added.
In the juniors division, University of Santo Tomas Galvanize captured its second straight championship as they wowed the dance floor and brought justice to the school’s revered Go USTe chant.
