‘We will see Max in heaven’: Jaya opens up about past miscarriage

IN shock or what she described as “zombie mode,” music veteran Jaya pushed through with a concert in 2014, just four days after she went through a miscarriage.

Jaya had been 11 weeks into her pregnancy when she had to undergo an emergency gallbladder surgery. While initially the operation did not appear to harm her pregnancy, she learned three days later, during a followup checkup, that her worst fear had come true.

She lost the baby, who would have been her third child with her husband, Gary Gotidoc.

The couple recalled the incident was the most challenging episode of their marriage in the Friday episode of “Magandang Buhay,” coinciding with Jaya’s birthday. The soul singer turned 49 on March 21.

“We prayed about it,” Gotidoc reacelled. “God revealed to us – be grateful for the kids you have. It made us appreciate our kids more. The hardest part was we were already preparing for another baby… Regardless if it was a girl or a boy, we were going to call the baby Max.”

Trying to contain her tears, Jaya added, “Para siyang isang malaking blessing na kahit hindi namin siya nakita, we will see Max in heaven.”

At the time, their children, Sabriya and Dylan, were made aware of the loss, according to Jaya. The “Kung Wala Na” hitmaker is a stepmother to Gavin, Gotidoc’s son from a previous relationship.

Asked for her message to Gotidoc, Jaya said she is thankful that “you are the one I’m going through the journey with, not with any other man, not in any other situation or circumstance.”

“What we have is perfect. It’s not perfect every day, but every day that I wake up with you, no matter what it is that I’m going through, I know that I’m blessed because I’m going through it with you,” she went on. (ABS-CBN News)
