Election ban halts 3 Bacolod projects

BACOLOD City – The city government will postpone the construction of its three flagship projects just in time for the election banning period.

Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) chairman Maphilindo Polvora said they already issued a notice to contractors deferring the construction of the Bacolod City College, Progreso Village Relocation Site and roads and bridges.

“Despite the bidding process has been done, they still cannot push through the project’s construction” said Polvora

He noted the contractors need to comply an Environment Compliance Certificate (ECC), a building permit and other requirements.

The BAC chairman explained ECC’s processing takes 45 days and it is also just in time for the election banning period.

The local government unit availed a P1.7 billion loan from the Development Bank of the Philippines to finance its four flagship projects namely Progreso Village Relocation Site with the budget of P350 million; Bacolod City College (BCC) Site Development and Facilities, P350 million; Bacolod MassKara Coliseum, P800 million; and P200 million for the construction of roads and bridges./PN
