Jobs, services offered for Antiqueñas

SAN JOSE, Antique – Hundreds of Antiqueñas converged at the EBJ Gymnasium in this capital town for a job and services fair in celebration of Women’s Month this March.

The event – dubbed as “Trabaho at Serbisyo para sa Kababaihan” – was attended by members of women’s groups, female micro-entrepreneurs, local officials, and job seekers.

Department of Labor and Employment Region 6 director Cyril Ticao said there were 37 agencies that participated in the job fair, which offered employment here and abroad.

The jobs offered included construction, office work, and crew and housekeeping services, among others.

During the event, Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator Julie Cepe said Antiqueñas should know where to go when they need livelihood assistance, legal support and skills training, citing several offices concerned.

Rhodora Pon-an, head of the Antique Development Program and co- chair of the GAD Inter-agency Committee, stressed the vital role of women in building a “strong and empowered” community.

Business consultancy for female entrepreneurs courtesy of the Department of Trade and Industry, assistance to women with disabilities facilitated by the Provincial Disability Affairs Office, and assistance on land titling by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources were also part of the event./PN
