3 teams fight for last 2 PBA Cup q’finals seats

MANILA – Three teams are still in the fighting for two remaining quarterfinals seats of the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup, whose elimination round ends tonight at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Remaining games in the schedule were between NLEX Road Warriors and Magnolia Hotshots at 4:30 p.m. and between NorthPort Batang Pier and Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings at seven in the evening.

Already safe in the quarterfinals were Phoenix Fuel Masters (9-2), Rain or Shine Elasto Painters (8-3), Kings (7-3), TNT KaTropa (7-4), San Miguel Beermen (7-4) and Hotshots (5-5).

Still fighting for the remaining quarterfinals slots were the Road Warriors (4-6), Batang Pier (4-6) and Alaska Aces (4-7). Already out of the race were Columbian Dyip (4-7), Meralco Bolts (3-8) and the Elite (2-9).

If ever Road Warriors and the Batang Pier win their matches, a three-way tie at 5-7 will be ensued between the Road Warriors, Hotshots and Batang Pier. The Aces will be eliminated.

If both Road Warriors and Batang Pier loses, they will end up tied with the Aces at 4-7 with the Road Warriors sealing the No. 7 quarterfinals seed while Batang Pier and Aces will figure in a knockout match for the last quarterfinals seat.

If the Road Warriors wins and the Batang Pier loses, Road Warriors will move up to No. 6 and pushing the Hotshots to No. 7. The Batang Pier and Aces will figure in a knockout match for the last quarterfinals seat.

If the Road Warriors loses and Batang Pier wins, the Hotshots will seal the No.6 seat while the Batang Pier will occupy the No. 7 spot. The Road Warriors and the Aces will figure in a knockout match for the last quarterfinals seat./PN
