KALIBO, Aklan – The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTRFB) urges local officials to put up more transport terminal facilities for the convenience of commuting public in this capital town.
Municipal Economic Enterprise and Development Office head Engineer Jesse Fegarido said the LTFRB inspected the conditions of transport terminals in Kalibo.
The LTFB wants local government officials to establish transport terminals with firefighting equipment, a medical clinic, well-paved parking bays and breastfeeding stations for travel convenience of the commuters.
Fegarido said the local government of Kalibo will study the recommendations of LTFRB to fully comply the standards and requirements to ensure safety and comfort of passengers.
“We have no other choices but to develop and improve the facilities of the Kalibo transport terminals,” he said.
The Kalibo Eastern Terminal in San Lorenzo Drive Andagao is the town’s newest terminal which was opened last January. It houses jeepneys, buses, tricycles and multi-cabs plying the routes of New Washington, Banga, Altavas, Balete, and Libacao from and to the capital town.
Aside from clean and sanitary comfort rooms, the Kalibo Eastern Terminal put up a comfort room for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender. (With a report from Akean Forum/PN)
