KALIBO, Aklan – The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) urged the public to take fire safety precautions with the onset of the summer season.
BFP-Aklan Senior Fire Superintendent Nazrudyn Cablayan said a safety advocacy for the Fire Summer Safety Month celebration this April will be conducted, said.
This month, BFP-Aklan will inspect comedy bars, resorts, restaurants, discotheques, vacation houses, and amusement centers as part of the strengthened fire safety campaign.
BFP-Aklan recorded 14 fire incidents from January to March this year, compared to 16 cases, a the same period the previous year.
Among the major fires that hit Aklan in March included one in Boracay Island that left P22.5-million damages and another in Kalibo that left commercial establishments destroyed.
“We advised every household to unplug electrical appliances when leaving the home for an out-of-town trip or vacation,” Cablayan.
He added the residents were also notified to be cautious and observe fire safety measures ahead of the hot summer months. (With a report from Akean Forum/PN)
