Bacolod Tay Tung cagers bag Talisay basketball crown

BACOLOD Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts clinched the crown in the 1st Barangay Bubog Invitational U-11 Basketball after a 93-67 rout on Bobcats squad in the finals on Wednesday at the Barangay Bubog Gym in Talisay City, Negros Occidental.

Dave Matthew Recodo was hailed as the Most Valuable Player due to his consistent performance for the Thunderbolts, which have swept all of its matches in the pocket tournament.

The Atoy Callora-mentored squad defeated their elimination round foes in Jaguar-A, Bobcats-A, Murcia, St. John’s Institute Bacolod-B, Dolphins and STI-West Negros University.

The Thunderbolts stretched their dominance to the semifinals round where they defeated the St. John’s Institute-Bacolod before capping off with a wire-to-wire win over Bobcats in the finals.

Also part of the Thunderbolts team were Adrian Alagaban, Joaquin Chuatico, Jorald Gambol, Chino Uy, Thomas Gonzalea, William Malacad, Chubby Lamasan, Marcus Severino, John Bejemino, Carlos Cacantana, Ronnie Medina, Asya Wang, and Carl Fernandez.

“I am happy with our performance here in this tournament. The players followed the game plan well,” Callora said. “I hope that we can bring that towards our next tournaments here in Bacolod.”/PN
