“Mystified” actress Iza Calzado revealed that she already underwent the process of freezing her eggs, and banked it for future surrogacy.
In her interview with ANC, Iza said that she wanted to experience getting pregnant and to deliver her own baby, but only once. “I do want to experience the process once, at least. I said I will commit to one baby, and let’s take it from there.”
“However I am preparing that one day I may take that option for the surrogacy. I mean, I have never talked about this, but we [with husband Ben Wintle] have frozen [my eggs],” Iza told host Karen Davila, who is proud of the actress’ early decision.
According to Iza, it is an empowering move for women who has fears of conceiving a child early on.
“I think it’s a very powerful move for women, who know deep in their hearts that they don’t want to have kids early on, to freeze their eggs,” she said.
Iza already has an egg bank in the country, and is planning to have another one in the United States or in Singapore.
Nonetheless, having plans of surrogacy in the future, the 36-year-old actress reiterated that she still want to experience child-bearing. “I want one, siguro it comes from as [being] an actor also… I want to understand it. And I feel like I will never fully understand it when I don’t fully undergo through it.”
“I feel like, having going through that will ground me, will really make me really understand how human (I am). It will challenge me, and it will bring out the better version of me, but I just don’t know if I want to keep doing it,” she explained.
