Guimaras police ‘100-percent’ ready for May midterm polls

ILOILO City – The province of Guimaras is now “100-percent” ready for the May 13 midterm elections, according to police provincial director Colonel Julio Gustilo.

“We are completely geared up for the national and local elections. We will deploy at least two police personnel in each polling place,” said Gustilo on Monday.

He said the province has no identified area of concern and remains under “Green Category.”

Commission on Election Resolution 10481 states that the areas placed under such category have “no security concern” or are  “relatively peaceful and orderly.”

Gustilo noted the province obtained the green classification because they have recorded no election-related incidents in the past.

“I hope and I pray that it will continue,” he said.
Guimaras has five municipalities – Jordan, Buenavista, Sibunag, San Lorenzo, and Nueva Valencia. The province has around 105,000 registered voters. (With a report from PNA/PN)
