Fire hits Jaro building, leaves P2-M damage

ILOILO City – Properties worth an estimated P2 million went up in smoke after fire hit a one-storey building in Barangay Tagbak, Jaro district.

The blaze started around 2:10 a.m. on Saturday, according to fire investigators. It originated from the building’s ceiling, they added.

It was however not immediately clear what caused the blaze. Investigation was ongoing.

The building is owned by Paul Eric Barcarlos and is being rented by DLS Supermarket owned by Darius Omapas.

Personnel of the Iloilo City Fire Station, Iloilo City Fire Federation and Iloilo Citizens Action Group responded to the blaze.

They were able to put the fire under control at 2:44 a.m. A “fire out” was declared at 5:51 a.m.

No one was injured or killed in the incident./PN
