ILOILO City – The Department of Agriculture (DA) showcased the world-famous mangoes of Guimaras in a 2-day expo last week.
Around 5 to 10 metric tons of Guimaras mangoes were put on sale during the “Mango Expo” held at DA’s central office compound in Quezon City on May 2 to 3.
“Before the Russians enjoy the sweetness of the Guimaras mango, we would like our kababayans from Metro Manila to get a taste of this world renowned variety,” said Provincial Board member Dan Elby Habaña.
Guimaras Governor Samuel Gumarin meanwhile lauded the DA’s support in promoting and marketing the famous product of the province.
During the expo, DA also featured mangoes from other provinces. Zambales mangoes were reputed to be just as sweet as the Guimaras variety. (With a report from Department of Agriculture Region 6/PN)
