THE Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) held a one-day Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries
(ARBs) symposium on land amortization, coop taxation and crop insurance last Monday, May 6, at Punta Villa Resort, Arevalo district, Iloilo City.
Invited guest speakers were from Land Bank of the Philippines, Cooperative Development Authority and Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation.
The symposium aims to make farmer leaders aware of the principles of land amortization, cooperative tax exemption and privileges, and available credit programs.
The event was also an opportunity for the farmers and farmer leaders to reconnect, expand their knowledge and share experiences in enhancing the implementation of the program – likewise to widen their information of the different programs and services offered by DAR and other partner agencies to the agrarian reform beneficiaries organizations.
Mr. Lemuel Sembrano of the Land Bank of the Philippines’ Agrarian Office Center discussed matters pertaining to land amortization.
Atty. Roumilia Alpasan-Base of the Cooperative Development Agency, meanwhile, discussed policies on cooperative taxation.
The full force team of Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation headed by their Vice President Antonio Uy also discussed the benefits of the ARB Insurance Program.
A total of 134 agrarian reform beneficiaries organization representatives attended the symposium, with twenty (22) coming from Aklan, thirty (30) from Antique, twenty seven (27) from Capiz, thirteen (13) from Guimaras and forty two (42) from Iloilo.
The event was likewise graced by USEC Karlo S. Bello of the Field Operations Group, DAR Central Office.
The participant includes the Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officers II and the regional and provincial Chief Agrarian Reform Program Officers. (With DAR Region 6/PN)
