ILOILO – In Barangay Alibunan, Calinog town a construction worker was stabbed dead while another was wounded.
The 38-year-old Charlie Chiva died on Monday night, May 6, at the Western Visayas Medical Center (WVMC) in Mandurriao, Iloilo City where he was brought.
Chiva, a resident of Barangay Alibunan, worked at Daewoo Construction Supply. His wounded companion was Edmundo Casiple, 49, and also a construction worker at Daewoo.
Caspile was also taken to the WVMC for treatment.
According to Police Captain Nemias Pamplona, Calinog police station chief, the suspect was a relative of the victims – a certain “Teban”, also a resident of Barangay Alibunan.
The stabbing happened around 9:30 p.m. during a drinking binge.
“All were drunk. A heated argument ensued between Chiva and Teban. Casiple tried to stop the suspect but he, too, was stabbed,” said Pamlona.
Teban fled after the stabbing.
“We are coordinating with the suspect’s family for him to surrender,” said Pamplona./PN
