Guns, drugs seized in Concepcion raids

ILOILO City – Simultaneous raids resulted in the confiscation of firearms, explosive and illegal drugs in Barangay Agnaga, Concepcion, Iloilo.

The village’s incumbent barangay captain Edgardo Oro, chief barangay tanod Arnel Ambros and retired Air Force officer Denny de Guzman were arrested.

Concepcion police chief Major Jonnah Galitcha said her men raided the houses of the three suspects on the strength of an arrest warrant around 6 a.m. yesterday.

A .45-caliber pistol loaded with bullets and magazine was recovered from Oro while from de Guzman, a rifle grenade, Galitcha said.

Ambros, on the other hand, yielded a 12-gauge shotgun, bullets of a .45-caliber firearm, and six sachets of shabu.

They were all detained in the lockup facility of the Concepcion police station.

According to Galitcha, the search warrant was issued following reports they received that the three often carry weapons to threaten other residents in the barangay when they were drunk.

“Their neighbors complained to us that they are carrying guns,” said Galitcha.

The town police head added that Ambros is in their drug watch list.

Oro was facing charges for possession of an unlicensed gun while de Guzman, for possession of explosive.

Ambros, on the other hand, was facing charges for possession of an unlicensed gun and Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
