MANILA – A data released by the Commission on Elections showed over 18,000 positions from the national and local levels at stake in the 2019 midterm elections today.

From the 18,072 total positions – 12 are senators, 61 seats are prepared for party-list organizations, 245 will sit as members of the House of Representatives, 81 governors and vice governors and 780 members of the provincial board.

Filipinos will also cast their votes on 145 city mayors and vice mayors, 1,628 city councilors, 1,489 municipal mayors and vice mayors, and 11,916 municipal councilors.
The Comelec said the country now has a total of 61,843,771 registered voters and 1,822,173 voters overseas.
Today’s midterm election is the fourth automated nationwide polls in the country.

A total of 85,768 vote counting machines (VCMs) will be utilized nationwide with some 7,000 VCMs as contingency.
Approximately 255,000 teachers or election boards will serve to man voting precincts and assist voters during elections.

The Comelec en banc sitting at the National Board of Canvassers is set to convene in the afternoon of May 13.

The seven-man panel is waiting to proclaim the 12 winning senators within two weeks after the polls. /PN
