BACOLOD City – To accelerate growth and development in Negros Occidental, a business group in this city is looking forward to the continuity of government initiatives under the new administration.
Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MBCCI) chief executive officer Frank Carbon said the provincial government under Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. has already started efforts in bringing development to the rural areas.
“We want the provincial government together with local government units to put their investments in the rural areas and encourage national government agencies to do the same for a balanced growth in the province,” Carbon said on Thursday.
Carbon noted the newly elected officials should allocate government’s resources to the development of rural areas.
MBCCI wants to see these and other programs to push through, especially that 11 out of the 12 incoming members of the City Council belong to the majority, the business leader said.
“The coliseum will encourage more people to come to Bacolod through conventions and meetings while the relocation project is also needed to clear the shoreline of informal settlers.” said Carbon. (With a report from PNA/PN)
