BORACAY – Tourists, residents and commuters have to bear the temporary inconvenience caused by road construction in this famed island resort as Phase II of the rehabilitation are now on track.
Boracay Inter-Agency Rehabilitation Management Group (BIARMG) general manager Natividad Bernandino said road improvements by the Department of Public Works and Highways and drainage works of Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority were underway.
“We are more than a year now since the Boracay closure. Marami na tayong nagawa para sa Boracay. May Phase III road rehabilitation pa tayo by next year,” she said.
According to Bernandino, the road widening of the 20-kilometer Boracay circumferential network will also be completed within two years.
Aside from main road, the Bulabog circumferential road also served as an alternative route of motorists in Barangay Yapak and Mount Luho.
Bernandino said the establishments in the White Beach are already 100-percent compliant of the required easement.
She added 52 percent of establishments in the island were already compliant of the coastal easement rules.
“Priority natin sa road easements ang mga commercial establishments. Kailangan masegregate natin ang compliance ng commercial establishments sa mga residential houses,” Bernandino stressed. (With a report from Akean Forum/PN)
