ILOILO – Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr. has formed a transition team for the smooth turnover of the provincial government to the incoming administration of his son, Governor-elect Arthur Defensor Jr.
Through Executive Order No. 153 dated May 20, the governor ordered the constitution of the Local Governance Transition Team designating himself as chairperson.
Acting Provincial Administrator Suzette Mamon is the vice chairperson while all the department heads and chiefs of hospitals run by the provincial government are members.
“Functional na ina subong kag naka-meet na, nagaubra sang mga updates and reports of the programs, projects and activities para sa sunod nga governor. May formal turn over ina, ginahulat lang schedule sang Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG),” said Mamon.
Among the duties and responsibilities of the transition team are:
* conduct inventory of the provincial government’s immovable and movable properties
* gather, secure and preserve all official documents and/or records of official transactions
* turnover accountabilities
* organize turnover ceremony to include a briefing on the Governance Assessment Report and key challenges to the incoming set of officials
* ensure the accomplishment and timely submission of Elective Local Officials Personnel Data Sheet of incoming officials.
According to Engineer Ariel Iglesia, officer-in-charge of DILG Region 6, transition teams should have been created as early as March 30 at the start of the campaign period for the midterm elections for the early start also of the inventory of records, equipment and other properties.
“Pagpumasok ang new set ng local officials, maghahanap ‘yan siempre kung saan na ang mga properties ng LGU. ‘Yan ang iniiwasan natin,” said Iglesia./PN
