MANILA – BanKo Perlas Lady Spikers cruised to its breakthrough win in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference Season 3 after a 25-23, 23-25, 25-18, 25-16 win over Bali Pure Purest Water Defenders on Saturday at San Juan Arena.
American import Kia Bright recovered from a subpar showing to finish with 16 points, Kath Bersola added 15 markers, while Nicole Tiamzon and Turkish import Yasemin Yildrim chipped 13 and 11, respectively, for the Lady Spikers (1-1).
“It’s an improvement,” Bright said. “Although I still think we’re still working to jell completely as a team but definitely much better than last game. I’m grateful for that and hopefully, we could just continue to improve from here.”
After splitting the first two sets, the Lady Spikers picked up the phase in the third and fourth set behind the trio of Bright, Tiamzon and Yildrim to register its first victory of the conference.
Danijela Djakovic had 23 markers built on 15 spikes, five aces, and three denials, while Slovakian import Alexandra Vajdova and Grazielle Bombita added 14 points each for the Water Defenders (0-2).
In the second game, PacificTown-Philippine Army Lady Troopers got back on the winning track following a 25-21, 25-21, 23-25, 25-21 victory over debuting Motolite Power Builders.
Ukrainian Olena Lymareva-Flink led the way with 25 points off 22 kills, two aces and a block while making 12 excellent receptions, Honey Royce Tubino added 18 markers and 15 digs for the Lady Troopers (2-1).
“Natuto kami nung (second game) namin against kasi we have more errors sa Creamline. Sa dami ng tapon (against Power Builders) nag siguro kami sa service namin,” said Lady Troopers head coach Emilio Reyes./PN
