BACOLOD City – Eighty-one soldiers from two battalions in Negros Occidental were awarded for their bravery following successful encounters against rebels of the New People’s Army (NPAs) last month.
Brigadier General Benedict Arevalo, Philippine Army’s 303rd Infantry Brigade (303IB) commander, awarded military commendation medals to 38 soldiers of 62nd Infantry Battalion (62IB) and 43 troopers of 79th Infantry Battalion (79IB) at their respective battalion headquarters in Isabela and Sagay City on June 4.
“The medals I gave to my soldiers were in recognition of their commitment to the service, hard-work and bravery in fighting the terrorist NPAs,” said Arevalo.
These operations included the dismantling of a rebel encampment in Sitio Dawhan, Barangay Buenavista, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental last May 4, where a minor rebel was nabbed.
“As their commander, I ensure that their morale is high, because well-motivated and appreciated troops will perform more than what is expected,” the 303IB commander reiterated./PN
