MANILA – Mendiola FC 1991 and Philippine Air Force FC are still in search of their first victory in the 2019 Philippine Football League after settling for a 1-1 draw on Saturday at the Philippine Football Federation Training Center in Carmona, Cavite.
Mendiola drew first blood in the match with Roberto Corsarme Jr. finding the back of the net at the seventh minute. Air Force had chances to tie but was defended leaving the score at 1-0 at the half.
The Air Force, however, became successful in pulling off the equalizer at the early goings of the second half with Alvin Obero eluding his defenders for the 58th minute kick.
Both Mendiola and the Air Force attempted for the go-ahead conversion in the remaining moments of the second half but the goal keeper’s defense became tight ending the match with 1-1 count.
With the outcome, the Mendiola remained at fifth spot in the standings with one points, on one victory and a defeat, which came at the hands of Green Archers United Globe last week.
Philippine Air Force, on the other hand, is at sixth spot on one draw and two losses, which came at the expense of defending champions Ceres-Negros FC and Stallion-Laguna FC./PN
