BACOLOD City – The Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) is currently conducting a massive campaign against “colorum” vehicles plying in this capital city.
BTAO head Lieutenant Colonel Luisito Acebuche said they have intensified their move since May to apprehend more erring drivers and operators of tricycle, e-trike and jeepney.
“This is also a means to decongest the traffic as classes begin,” Acebuche noted.
According to Acebuche, BTAO already apprehended around 209 e-trikes plying the city’s route without license.
“Some of them were also violators of illegal parking and obstruction,” he stressed.
The BTAO head noted they are focusing on e-trikes, who operate without securing government-imposed documents.
“They just putting the passenger’s lives in danger,” Acebuche reiterated.
Acebuche said that e-trikes are only allowed to ply within the barangay road only, as long as they have a barangay permit.
He added local government unit do not issue permit to e-trike.
“In order to regulate the e-trike, LTO had advised them already to secure a barangay permit but the permit is only limited to barangay road, and they are prohibited to pass along the national road if they violate that we will apprehend them,” Acebuche said./PN
