HUA SIONG College of Iloilo Red Phoenix cruised to its second straight victory in the Bingawan Foundation Cup-Preseason High School Basketball Premier Tournament-Season 3 on Saturday at the Bingawan Gymnasium in Bingawan, Iloilo.
Big man Reneil Gamboa imposed his presence against the smaller defenders to finish with 22 points as the Red Phoenix cruised to a 110-97 victory over the CenterPhil Montessori Silver Knights.
It was the second victory in as many matches for the defending champions Red Phoenix to stay on top of the group. The Silver Knights, on the other hand, dropped to 1-1.
St. Robert’s International Academy Panda Rockets, meanwhile, scored also its second straight win as it defeated PAREF-Westbridge School, 108-55. Matt Atanas tallied 18 markers for the Panda Rockets.
Earlier, the Panda Rockets made a triumphant debut in the tournament as it walloped the Mary Immaculate Academy Saints, 116-73. Gwyn Miles Pendon waxed hot on offense to finish with 24 points.
Hercor College Junior Jaguars, on the other hand, bounced back from opening day loss with an 84-68 domination over Bingawan National High School. Christian Mark Chiu had 24 points for the winning team.
Assumption School-Passi City Golden Doves added to the PAREF-Westbridge School’s misery by scoring a 101-84 victory. Addy Villanueva led the Golden Doves with 24 markers./PN
