MANILA – President Rodrigo Duterte has signed an executive order keeping reduced tariff rates on certain poultry products.
Duterte signed Executive Order No. 81 on June 13 which maintains lower duties on imported agricultural products such as mechanically deboned chicken meat, turkey meat and entrails.
“The present economic condition warrants the continued application of the reduced rates of duties on certain agricultural products to mitigate the impact of high prices of goods,” the President said in his order.
Tariffs will remain at 5 percent for mechanically deboned or separated meat and 20 percent for frozen poultry.
Executive Order 81 will keep lower tariffs until Dec. 31, 2020, a 6-month extension from the original expiry set under EO 23. (ABS-CBN News)
