KALIBO, Aklan – Residents of Malay, Aklan are complaining about the foul smell coming from the wastes transported by garbage trucks to a sanitary landfill in the town’s mainland area.

There is a continuing complaint, exposing the neighborhood to foul odor every time the garbage trucks hauled the trash to Barangay Kabulihan according to Sangguniang Bayan member Dante Pagsuguiron.

He lamented the stench coming from the passing trucks is causing discomfort and possible health hazard to his constituents.

Pagsuguiron stressed they will invite Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office, barangay officials and ECOS Sanitary Landfill and Waste Management Corporation to address the “health threat.”

Town councilor Floribar Bautista, meanwhile, said local officials should do something on the residents’ complaints.

(With a report from Akean Forum/PN)
