KALIBO, Aklan – Engineer Carmelo Flaviano Orbista is the new director of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) in Aklan.
Local Government Operations Officer (LGOO) VIII Orbista will officially sit as the new DILG-Aklan head on July 1.
He will replace LGOO VIII Roy Defiño, who will be the head of DILG-Iloilo City. Defiño was previously assigned in DILG-Guimaras prior to his Aklan assignment.
Meanwhile, Atty. Ferdinand Panes – who served for nine years as DILG-Iloilo City director – will take over Orbista’s post as DILG chief in Negros Occidental.
Orbista is a native of Madalag, Aklan. He has been serving as the DILG provincial director in Negros Occidental since January 2018. He also once served as the officer-in-charge of DILG-Bacolod City.
Five other field officers of DILG in Region 6 are waiting for reassignment orders from the DILG national office, according to DILG regional director Atty. Ariel Iglesias.
They are John Ace Azarcon of Capiz, Cherryl Tacda of Antique, Teodora Sumagaysay of Iloilo, Victoria Pagapulan of Guimaras, and Ma. Joy Maredith Madayag of Bacolod City. (With Akean Forum/PN)
