Bacolod execs take oath

BACOLOD City – The newly elected officials of this city will take their oath of office today at the Bacolod City Government Center.

Three highest-ranking Senate officials, two ambassadors, a US embassy official, and the richest congressman will be the guests of honor for the inauguration and oath-taking ceremony at 5:30 p.m. 

Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III will swear in Mayor Evelio Leonardia; Senate Majority Floor Leader Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri will swear in Rep. Greg Gasataya; and Minority Floor Leader Franklin Drilon will swear in Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran.

Russia ambassador Igor Khovaev, South Korea ambassador Dong-man Han and US Embassy Political Section – Internal Political Unit chief Joshua Morris also confirmed their attendance to the event.

Rep. Michael Romero of 1-Pacman Party-list, the richest lawmaker in the House of Representatives in the last Congress, will swear in the newly elected and re-elected councilors.

Of the 12 winning councilors, 11 are from Grupo Progreso; Cindy Rojas, Renecito Novero, Simplicia Distrito, Carlos Jose Lopez, Al Victor Espino, Archie Baribar, Israel Salanga, Dindo Ramos, Bartolome Orola, Ana Marie Palermo, and Elmer Sy.

The 12th councilor, meanwhile, is Wilson Gamboa Jr. from the rival AAB-MKK. (With a report from Bacolod City PIO/PN)
