MANILA – Kyle Neypes came up with clutch hits in the endgame as the Biñan City Krah Heroes cruised to an 85-81 overtime win over Cebu Sharks in the 2019-2020 Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Lakan Season on Wednesday at the Pasig Sports Center.
Trailing 77-80 late in the overtime, Neypes came up with back-to-back three-pointers to surge the Heroes 83-80. The Sharks came to within 81-83 but Allan Mangahas scored on a game-winning teardrop to seal the win.
Mangahas finished the match with 24 points, 13 rebounds, eight assists, and one block, Macky Acosta added 13 points, three boards, and one steal, while Neypes chipped in 12 markers for the Heroes, which improved to 2-2 slate.
Patrick Cabahug tallied 20 points, two rebounds, and two assists, while William McAloney came up with 17 markers, 19 rebounds and two assists for the Sharks, which dropped to 1-2.
In the second game, Bicol Volcanoes kept the Marikina Shoemasters winless after an 86-67 victory. Ron Jason Buenafe tallied 20 points, six assists and two rebounds for the 2-2 Volcanoes. The Shoemasters dropped to 0-4.
Over at Malolos, Bulacan, the Bulacan Kuyas leaned on its tight defense from start to finish to score a 65-55 stunner over powerhouse Basilan Steel./PN
