MANILA – Creamline Cool Smashers and Petro Gazz Angels made it to the finals of the 2019 PVL Reinforced Conference after disposing their semifinal foes over the weekend at Ynares Center in Antipolo City.
The defending champion Cool Smashers bagged its third straight finals appearance after a 25-12, 25-18, 25-13 straight set win over PacificTown-Army Lady Troopers in Game 2 of the best-of-three semifinals.
Thai import Kuttika Kaewpin top-scored with 12 points, all coming from attacks, laced with 10 excellent digs and eight excellent sets, while Alyssa Valdez added 11 points for the Cool Smashers.
Risa Sato chipped in nine points while Michelle Gumabao added eight points, with two blocks, and import Aleoscar Blanco managed seven points, two of which coming from blocks.
“We’re all excited to go up against Petro Gazz kasi we’re 1-1 para pagdating sa finals, back to square one,” Valdez said.
Olena Lymareva-Flink finished with 11 points on top of 13 excellent receptions, while Guimarasnon Jovelyn Gonzaga contributed seven points while American reinforcement Jenelle Jordan netted two blocks for five points.
The Angels, on the other hand, also punched their tickets to the Finals after a 25-23, 25-18, 25-17 sweep over BanKo Perlas Lady Spikers in their own semifinals series.
Cuban import Wilma Salas hammered 23 points, while Janisa Johnson had another all-around performance of 13 points, 13 excellent digs, and 13 excellent receptions for the Angels./PN
