MANILA – Ilonggo John Celiz spearheaded the attack as Green Archers United FC cruised to a 9-0 win over Global Cebu FC in the 2019 Philippine Football League on Sunday at the PFF National Training Center in Carmona, Cavite.
The Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo native fired all of his four goals in the opening half, while Alem Angeles and Roy Kent Bedia led the second half onslaught with two goals each and Fredy Lobe Mbang adding another one.
Green Archers immediately surged to a 2-0 edge with back-to-back hits from Celiz at the 13th and 18th minute. The Ilonggo added two more goals late in the second half for a 4-0 advantage.
Green Archers continued to pound on Global Cebu’s defense in the second half with Angeles converting at the 52nd minute followed by another hit from Lobe Mbang three minutes later for a 6-0 spread.
Green Archers widened its lead further late in the game with Angeles completing his brace at the 62nd minute before Bedia also had his own brace at the 80th and 90th minute.
With the victory, the Green Archers United has moved up to solo third spot in the standings with 14 points after eight matches, while Global Cebu is still at sixth with three points./PN
