MANILA – Ceres-Negros FC will have the opportunity to take the first place solo for the first time in the 2019 Philippines Football League when it faces Global-Makati FC today at the PFF National Training Center in Carmona, Cavite.

Currently tied with Kaya Futbol Club-Iloilo on top with 19 points, the Busmen will vie for its seventh win in eight matches, while Global-Makati hopes to improve its three points so far (one win and five losses).

Even with the issues hounding the team’s management, the defending champions Busmen were on a roll recently, including a 12-0 annihilation of the Philippine Air Force FC.

Mike Ott anchored Ceres-Negros on offense against the Airmen with four conversions while Bienvenido Marañon and Stephan Schrock had hat tricks each. Miguel Tanton and Curt Dizon had conversions each, too.

The Global-Makati, however, continued its struggle, with last a 9-0 defeat in the hands of Green Archers United FC on Sunday behind the four first half goals of Ilonggo John Celiz.

In their first encounter on June 1, the Negros Occidental-based football club cruised to an 8-0 victory over Global-Makati with Marañon firing four goals, Mahir Karic adding two goals, while Ott, and Jeffrey Christaens having a conversion each./PN
