MALAY, Aklan – The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry-Western Visayas (PCCI-WV) welcomed the decision of the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) to lift the moratorium on chartered flights to Kalibo International Airport (KIA), the gateway to Boracay Island.

CAB earlier said they have lifted the order not allowing additional charter flights to KIA.

Elena Tusco Brugger, president of the PCCI-Boracay, on Thursday said the PCCI-WV held its regular meeting last week in nearby Roxas City, Capiz.

“During the meeting, one of those in the agenda includes the planned issuance of PCCI-WV to issue a resolution to CAB asking for consideration… Nevertheless, we welcome such development,” Brugger said.

Natividad Bernardino, chair of the Boracay Inter-Agency Rehabilitation Management Group, on Wednesday said they have yet to receive a copy of the order from CAB.

“Despite the order, we will still stick to the carrying allowable capacity for Boracay tourism. We would study the possible impact to Boracay’s environment on such increase chartered flights in Boracay,” said Bernardino./PN
