Passi to host ALA boxing tour

MANILA – Fast-rising Filipino professional boxers are set to invade Passi City as part of the “ALA on Tour: Bakbakan sa Passi” fight card on Friday evening at the City of Passi Arena in Iloilo Province.


Cebuano Kevin Jake “KJ” Cataraja will try to protect his pristine 9-0-0 win-loss-draw ring record. He faces Valencia City, Bukidnon fighter Delfin de Asis in a 10-round bantamweight match.


This will be the first bout of the 24-year-old Cataraja since capturing the WBO Youth super flyweight belt with a unanimous decision win over Mexican Victor Reyes in November 2018.


Christian Bacolod of Bantayan Island, Cebu will tangle with Ubay, Bohol’s Garry Rojo in an eight-round flyweight category match.


Two Negrenses are also part of the undercard. Mabinay-native Romnick Magos faces Filipino-Japanese Go Hosaka in the lightweight category while Hinobaan’s Danny Villafuerte Jr. tangles with Bukidnon’s Christian Capuno in the bantamweight class.


Other matches feature flyweight division clashes between Bohol’s Regis Suganob and Kier Torregosa of Cebu and Masbate’s Arvinjohn Sampaga and Arceboy Baranggan of Bukidnon.


Randy Palomaria, Passi City sports development officer, said the boxing matchees will be free to the public and Passinhons can start trooping to the venue before 6 p.m./PN
