MANILA – Central Philippine University Golden Lions clinched the crown in the U-18 category of the Villa Luisa Football Club Futsal Cup 3 held recently at the Kirayan National High School in Miag-ao, Iloilo.
The Golden Lions futsal team of head coach GP Seloterio captured the championship after defeating Barotac Viejo in the gold medal match, 3-0, to also avenge their elimination round defeat.
Spearheading the squad were Mariel Adorio, Victoria Altavas, Therese Cordero, Clydelle Deñola, Juliana Espedion, Bridgette Libo-on, Danafe Libo-on, Kat Rabino, Argelyn Silao, Shanley Soldevilla, Rea Majarocon, and Cyna Hayawon.
Save for their loss to Barotac Viejo, the Golden Lions have four wins in the elimination round against Jalandoni (1-0), Guimbal (5-0), Kirayan National High School (3-0) and Iloilo City National High School-A (5-0).
On their way to the championship round, the Golden Lions cruised to a 3-1 victory over the Iloilo City National High School-B team while the Barotac Viejo escaped with a 1-0 win over Guimbal.
The Iloilo City National High School-B, meanwhile, was able to salvage a bronze medal finish when it defeated the Guimbal in the battle-for-third place game./PN
