Who will be the next director of Iloilo police prov’l office?

ILOILO – Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. will soon be selecting a new director for the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO).

The current director, Police Colonel Marlon Tayaba who already exceeded his two-year tour of duty at the IPPO, will have a new assignment at the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6).

Defensor recently received the names of nominees from the Philippine National Police (PNP): Police Colonel Policarpio Catungal Cayabyab of the Police Maritime Command – Western Visayas; Police Colonel Juel Neil Olario Salcedo; and Police Colonel Roland Alonzo Vilela from Camp Crame and a native of Davao City.

Defensor said he is not familiar with the three nominees and has asked for their backgrounds,
kon diin sila naghalin, ano ang performance nila sang nagligad.”

The governor said he is looking for a police official who values fairness, with good feedback from previous assignments, and hardworking.

The sooner the Philippine National Police briefs him about the nominees, the earlier he would be able to make a decision, said Defensor.

Meanwhile, Tayaba’s new PRO-6 assignment (chief of the Directorial Staff) is deemed a promotion. He served the IPPO beginning June 19, 2017.

“I believe my being two years in the province of Iloilo is more than enough service to the Ilonggo people,” said Tayaba when asked about the possibility of him extending his IPPO tour of duty./PN
