SAN JOSE, Antique – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is pushing to institutionalize the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) in all 18 towns of the province.
DOLE-Antique Information Officer Donnabelle Baldonado said local government units can pass an ordinance or municipal council resolution institutionalizing the PESO to ensure that there is plantilla personnel who will implement the various job-generation programs such as job fairs.
“As of last year, there were three local government units that have institutionalized their PESO, making a total of 10 towns now,” Baldonado added.
She that last week, these towns – Tibiao, Libertad and Anini-y – received computer units with a printer to be used by their PESO managers in encoding the workforce in their locality for the National Skills Registry.
Other towns in the province that have institutionalized PESO are San Jose de Buenavista, Pandan, Bugasong, Sebaste, Caluya, San Remigio, and Hamtic.
The eight towns that have yet to institutionalize PESO are Belison, Patnongon, Tobias Fornier, Laua-an, Culasi, Sibalom, Barbaza, and Valderrama.
“Hopefully, sooner the mayors and municipal councilors of Culasi, Sibalom and other towns in the province would be convinced to institutionalize their PESO,” Baldonado said.
She added that the Antique provincial government PESO has also already been institutionalized as the local implementing arm of DOLE for its programs and services. (With a report from Antique/PN)
