MANILA – TNT KaTropa’s Terrence Jones and Jayson Castro bagged the individual honors in the 2019 Honda PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Jones, a former Houston Rockets forward, was hailed as the conference’s Best Import on Sunday night after garnering 1,254 points — 548 from stats, 477 from media votes, 79 from player’s votes, and 150 from PBA.
Jones defeated Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings’ Justin Brownlee (882 points), San Miguel Beermen’s Chris McCullough (729) and Rain or Shine Elasto Painters’ Carl Montgomery.
Jones has been impressive all-conference long for the KaTropa. He posted averages of 30.2 points, 15.7 rebounds, 7.5 assists, 2.8 blocks, and 1.8 steals. He also tallied five triple-double feats this conference.
Castro, on the other hand, bagged his fifth Best Player of the Conference citation with 1,077 points — 393 from stats, 458 from media votes, 76 from player’s votes, and 150 from PBA.
Castro bested other BPC contenders in San Miguel Beermen’s June Mar Fajardo (762), Blackwater Elite’s Bobby Ray Parks Jr. (576), Columbian Dyip’s Jaymar Perez (426), and NorthPort Batang Pier’s Robert Bolick Jr. (421).
Castro, a former Gilas Pilipinas mainstay, tallied averages of 14.7 points, 6.0 assists, and 7.3 rebounds for the KaTropa which is in search of its first PBA trophy since 2015./PN
