MANILA – Kaya Futbol Club-Iloilo got back on the winning track in the 2019 Philippines Football League after a 5-0 blanking of the Philippine Air Force FC at the Biñan Football Stadium in Laguna.
Ghanian Jordan Mintah fired two goals while Masanari Omura, Connor Tacagni and Negrense Jayson Panhay added a conversion each on Sunday.
Mintah immediately put the Kaya-Iloilo on the scoring board with a powerful hit at the 15th minute before following up with another conversion seven minutes later for a 2-0 score.
Omura followed suit with a 24th minute attack.
Tacagni joined the Ilonggos’ scoring spree three minutes later to extend the lead to four, 4-0.
Panhay capped the scoring at the 41st minute.
Kaya-Iloilo did the victory despite the absence of Ilonggo star Jovin Bedic who was suspended after being slapped with double yellow card in their 1-0 loss to Ceres-Negros FC two weeks ago.
With the victory, Kaya-Iloilo is now at second place in the standings with 25 points on eight victories, one draw and a defeat. It is just three points behind defending champion Ceres-Negros’ 28 points.
Meanwhile, Stallion-Laguna FC took the maximum points of three with a 4-1 victory over Global Makati FC.
Ilonggos Jan Melliza and Ruben Doctora, Fitch Arboleda and Abou Sy had a goal each for the winning team./PN
