Pagara TKOs Thai foe in ‘Pinoy Pride 46’

MANILA – Filipino boxer Prince Albert Pagara cruised to a first round stoppage win over Thai opponent Ratchanon Sawangsoda in the main event of the Pinoy Pride 46 over the weekend at the Superdome in Ormoc City.


The Maasin City native dropped Sawangsoda four times at the onset of the opening round prompting the Thai challenger’s camp to surrender the match at the 2:53 mark.


With the victory, the 25-year-old Pagara improved his slate to 32-1-0 win-loss-draw with 23 KO wins.

Sawangsoda fell to 12-4-0 with 12 stoppage victories.


“Prince has regained his old form and will soon be fighting for world titles,” said trainer Edito Villamor.

Pagara will initially fight for a title eliminator to become the mandatory challenger for a world title shot.


Meanwhile, Jeo Santisima (18-2-0 with 15 KOs) also had a short and easy victory against Indonesian Alvius Maufani (6-4-2 with 3 KOs) by knocking him out in the opening round.


Santisima stopped Maufani with a thundering straight right hand and won by KO with the time 1:49 of the first round.


In the undercard, Jonas Sultan won by TKO over Salatiel Amit in the seventh round, while Melvin Jerusalem also scored a seventh round stoppage win over Reymark Taday./PN
