MANILA – With an 88-73 domination, San Beda University Red Lions showed it still has the Lyceum Pirates’ numbers in the NCAA Season 95 men’s basketball at the San Juan Arena.
Calvin Oftana finished with a career-high 20 points togo along with 12 rebounds on Tuesday night.
Donald Tankoua added 19 markers and six boards for the defending champions Red Lions.
Ilonggo Clint Doliguez also contributed 15 markers while Evan Nelle supplied 14 points and seven assists.
The Red Lions registered its seventh win in as many games.
The Red Lions started strong behind eight early points by JP Bahio for an 18-point first half edge. But the Pirates countered with a huge run to take a slim 51-50 lead on a triple by Jayson David.
The Red Lions regained its shooting since then with a strong 23-6 scoring surge in the fourth quarter behind Oftana, Tankoua and Doliguez to build its largest lead at 22 points.
Mike Nzeusseu tallied 18 points and nine rebounds, while Jaycee Marcelino and David added 13 and 10 markers, respectively, as the Pirates slumped to 6-2 win-loss record.
Meanwhile, University of Perpetual Help Altas survived a huge second half rally by the Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals to escape with an 88-87 victory./PN
