BACOLOD City – About 500 grams of suspected shabu valued at around P15 million was seized in a buy-bust operation in Purok Fatima, Barangay 31.
Personnel of the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) staged the drug sting against Cader Magondacan (subject of the operation).
Magondacan managed to flee. His 17-year-old son, however, was nabbed and yielded 29 sachets of suspected shabu.
CDEU chief Lieutenant Colonel Leonardo Borromeo said the minor-suspect was caught after he sold illegal drugs to an undercover cop around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday. The P5,000 marked money was also recovered.
Prior to the operation, the police subjected Magondacan to two weeks of surveillance, following previous buy-bust operations here linking him as source of the illegal drugs.
Borromeo said Magondacan is one of the big suppliers of drugs in this city and usually distribute the items in Bacolod and neighboring cities of Talisay and Silay.
“The suspect is not usually staying here. He transfers from one place to another,” he added.
According to Borromeo, the suspect probably sourced out the items in Mindanao as he is a native of the island.
“Magondacan was able to escape on board his motorcycle when the police were approaching the house of his mother,” he said. “A manhunt operation was conducted against him.”/PN
