BACOLOD City – Silay City councilor Ryan Gamboa was elected president of the Philippine Councilors League (PCL)-Negros Occidental Chapter at a hotel on Thursday.
Gamboa, who was the candidate of the ruling Love Negros, garnered 179 votes to defeat Sagay City councilor Arthur Marañon of the United Negros Alliance, who obtained only 148.
The win earned the councilor of Silay – son of the late vice governor Romeo Gamboa – a seat as ex-officio member of the Provincial Board.
“I share this blessing with my family, my friends, my party mates, and all those who believed in and supported me throughout this entire endeavor,” Gamboa said.
He added the Sagay City councilor – a son of former governor Alfredo Marañon – congratulated him.
Also elected were Julius Martin Asistio (La Carlorta City), vice president; Rey Cordova (Ilog), secretary-general; Julie Ann Vasquez (Himamaylan City), treasurer; Miguel Zayco (Kabankalan City), auditor; Audie Malaga (Victorias City), public relations officer; and Virgie Pastor (Escalante City), business manager.
The federation directors included Janet Villafranca (Himamaylan City); Armando Alvarez (Valladolid); Vicente Perez (Cauayan); Lorlan Evangelista (Hinoba-an); Rolin Albert Meliton (Talisay City); Victor Michael Javellana (Bago City); Elizabeth Andrino (Manapla); and Mikaela Escalante (Manapla).
Meanwhile, Councilor Renecito Novero was elected president of the PCL-Bacolod City Chapter at the Sangguniang Panlungsod session hall of the Bacolod City Government Center on Wednesday.
Other officers were Ana Marie Palermo, vice president; Archie Baribar, secretary-general; Dindo Ramos, auditor; Al Victor Espino, business manager; Israel Salanga, public relations officer; and Bartolome Orola Sr. and Simplicia Distrito as directors./PN
